In early 2018, Gengo.ai (now Lionbridge.ai) was launched to promote the company’s foray into machine learning by offering multilingual AI training data. Capitalising on the powerful front-end platform that already supports the translation business and evolving it into a multi-service marketplace.
To do so at scale and without diluting and/or confusing what has already been established within translation, an initial step involved a separate web presence being built to market our services. My role involved swiftly adapting the existing brand to one that spoke to a new audience against a lean timeline to ship an MVP website.
Gengo’s original branding (designed by Cuban Council), was gently evocative of nature in its rounded forms and substantial, naturalistic colour palettes. It was also focused around the use of portraiture over illustrations. The Gengo.ai branding and MVP site is an efficient and lightweight design that maintains the core ethos of the Gengo identity whilst functioning with clarity in mobilising the company’s new story within the machine learning space.
Gengo.ai was launched within six weeks. Up until its rebranding, it was a robust site that attracted tens of thousands of product managers, data scientists and technologists monthly from strong inbound efforts between content and design.
